Wool classers play an important role within the wool industry and need detailed knowledge of industry requirements relating to classing standards, technology and workplace supervision. Our Wool Industry Trainer Paddy McCarthy has over 30 years experience in the wool and agricultural education sector and is a specialist in his field.


Topics includes:

Supervising wool handlers
Determining the classing strategy for the wool clip
Monitoring shearing shed duties
Establishing and maintaining the shed’s WH&S program
Conducting and assessing workplace training
Arranging employment
Managing shearing operations
Accounting for shearing shed supplies
Preparing team wages


Delivery Structure

The course will be delivered over approximately 10 months
In addition to the training on offer, there is a requirement that each student
undertakes in-shed practical work experience



This is a nationally recognized qualification and training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth government funding for eligible individuals.


The cost of the Certificate IV in Wool Classing qualification is $592.50 for eligible students ($0.50 per enrolled hour) and $888.75 for ineligible students ($0.75 per enrolled hour). Please contact 4 Up Skilling to discuss eligibility requirements.
